Laguna Beach Real Estate

Laguna Beach, CA Real Estate

What began as an artists’ community is now one of the most desirable locations on the Southern California shoreline. Laguna’s stunning beaches and charming close-knit community make this a popular vacation and retreat destination as well as an ideal place for living the Southern California dream.

Real Estate:  In Laguna it’s all about the beach. The North Laguna area features antique shops and galleries and has many larger homes in the hills with spectacular views. South Laguna features a variety of architectural styles from classic beach cottages to Spanish homes and some newer architectural styles. Emerald Bay is a gated community that offers many newer homes. Smaller craftsman bungalows downtown speak to the city’s roots.

Laguna Canyon, the road that leads the way into Laguna offers smaller homes and artist communities. Top of the World is situated high in the hills above Laguna Beach. There are fewer apartments, townhouses, and condos located in these areas.

Community Life: Laguna Beach is also about fun, food, art, and the beach. The city’s Sawdust Art Festival held in the summer (and a second one held in November/December) brings thousands of visitors who buy and browse. The Pageant of the Masters featuring unique recreations of popular artworks often attracts celebrity guests and is a well-attended nearly summer-long event. The companion art show, Festival of the Arts showcases local artists. The small town also has a lively cultural scene with many plays and events and several art museums.

Education: Laguna Beach is served by the Laguna Beach Unified School District. Laguna Beach High School was featured in the MTV program “Laguna Beach.” The school district also includes Thurston Middle School, El Morro Elementary School, and Top of the World Elementary School. The Laguna College of Art & Design is a small college in Laguna Canyon which offers bachelor of arts degrees in a variety of arts disciplines.

Transportation: Laguna Beach is reached by both the Pacific Coast Highway and Route 133. Laguna operates its own public transportation service with three routes. There is also a Summer Trolley in the summer that runs to the beach and summer events. The city has its own Laguna Beach Travel Info app that includes a “Trolley Tracker.”

Local Attractions: The beaches draw people from around the world but Laguna also attracts art lovers, hikers, surfers, and anyone in search of relaxation in beautiful surroundings. Laguna’s Main Beach attracts thousands of visitors each year as do Crystal Cove and Thousand Steps Beach. An interesting mix of nature and culture infuse Laguna Beach with offerings from the Pacific Marine Mammal Center where injured seals are cared for to the Laguna Playhouse which hosts talents on both the local and global scale.
